On Feb 17, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, opened international cargo routes to Yangon in Myanmar, and Dhaka in Bangladesh, further enhancing the province's opening-up.

The new routes are operated by Boeing 737-800 freighters, each with a capacity of 21 metric tons. They initially offer four flights per week to Yangon and five to Dhaka. Flight frequencies will be adjusted according to market demand.

Inbound shipments primarily include aquatic products, while outbound cargo focuses on textiles, clothing, flowers, electronics, and machinery parts.

These two new routes build on the expansion of Guiyang's international cargo network, which launched air links to Kolkata, Delhi, Karachi, and Moscow in 2023 and 2024. This expansion is a key step in facilitating the efficient export of Guizhou-made products to ASEAN and South Asia, boosting the region's economic diversification.
