The Giant Panda • Green Tourism Development Index Release Conference, hosted by the China Tourism Academy, was held in Beijing on Sept 19.
Relying on the green tourism development evaluation index system, the research team of the China Tourism Academy evaluated green tourism development in 45 sample cities nationwide and released a list of China's top 10 preferred destinations for green tourism, which included Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
Guiyang was also invited to share insights on its green tourism offerings, focusing on its "Cool Guiyang" city brand.
Guiyang has been exploring green tourism resources and enriching the "Cool Guiyang" city brand in six areas: health, culture, sightseeing, food, shopping and travel.
It has transformed its lucid waters and lush mountains into invaluable assets for culture and tourism development and proposed four major initiatives: exploring green development in rural tourism, exploring green innovation in urban tourism, exploring green trends in outdoor tourism, and exploring green practices in cultural tourism.
The summer resort accommodation products in Guiyang are the result of the combination of Guiyang's cool summer weather and rural tourism development. By integrating rural tourism resources and revitalizing idle farmhouses, Guiyang has crafted a diverse accommodation product system covering 139 villages.
In recent years, Guiyang has been exploring new trends in green outdoor tourism development. The concept of integrated mountain development has given rise to a new group of outdoor tourism market entities focusing on specific outdoor segments in Guiyang, dedicated to providing visitors with more professional and personalized outdoor tourism services.
In 2022, Guiyang's roadside concerts became popular online. Originally organized by music enthusiasts, the influence of the roadside concerts has been growing due to their "no ticket, no commercialization, and no distance" principle.
The roadside concerts have attracted a wide range of participants and significant attention from famous singers, international visitors, and university students nationwide. They are now an essential part of Guiyang's cultural tourism, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture.
