A roadside concert themed on the Mid-Autumn Festival was held at Zhucheng Square in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Sept 15, featuring Ningxia Performing Arts Group Song and Dance Theater Co's symphony orchestra.
In the evening, the symphony orchestra performed popular songs like Chrysanthemum Terrace and Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies, as well as drama soundtracks such as Dream of the Red Chamber and Immortal Sound Above Cloud Palace.
Coinciding with the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, The Moon Represents My Heart and My Motherland were played, with the audience singing along.
In July, Guiyang's roadside concert was performed outside the city for the first time in Kaiyuan Square in Wuzhong, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, where it received a warm response.
Next, the Ningxia Performing Arts Group Song and Dance Theater Co's symphony orchestra visited Guiyang, not only taking the stage during the West China Convention of Symphony Orchestras, but also continuing the musical connection between the two places, fostering deep cultural exchange and integration.
Sun Pei, leader of the symphony orchestra, said that Guiyang deserves its title of "city of music", as it boasts top-notch professional symphony orchestras and engaging roadside concerts, and the high musical literacy of the audience and their enthusiastic response left a strong impression on him.
Chen Lili, deputy director of the public service department of the Guiyang bureau of culture and tourism, said, "From Guiyang to Ningxia and back again, this is not just a musical journey but also a bridge for cultural exchanges between the two regions. We hope to bring high art closer to citizens through such events, allowing more people to experience the charm of symphonic music, while also further enhancing Guiyang's identity as the 'city of music' and enriching the city brand of 'Cool Guiyang'."
