Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has secured the fourth spot in the 2024 China Summer Habitat Suitability Index List for Migratory Retirement, which was recently released by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

This is the fifth edition of the index list since its inception in 2020. The index list evaluates 16 provinces and autonomous regions, and 76 candidate cities based on 17 comprehensive indicators. These indicators include climate conditions such as temperature, humidity, and rainfall, as well as environmental factors like air quality, green coverage, and water resource quality.

It also considers infrastructure aspects such as medical facilities, transportation convenience, and availability of public service facilities, as well as cultural entertainment resources such as cultural activities, the number and quality of tourist attractions, and the cost of living.

This year, six cities and prefectures from Guizhou province made the list. Among them, Liupanshui city ranked first for the second consecutive year, followed by Zunyi city in seventh, Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture in 36th, Anshun city in 39th, and Bijie city in 54th.

The inclusion of these cities highlights the recognition of Guizhou's retirement environment and offers more high-quality retirement options for elderly people across the country.

As the capital of Guizhou, Guiyang boasts a pleasant climate, rich cultural heritage, and modern urban facilities, providing elderly residents with comfortable and convenient living conditions.
