The 6th West China Convention of Symphony Orchestras was held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Sept 6-14.
On Sept 7, the Guizhou Song and Dance Theater's Symphony Orchestra, a participant in the convention, held its first "three entries" (entering scenic spots, campuses, and residential communities) performance at Guiyang's Tianhetan scenic spot.
It performed over 10 classic Chinese and foreign songs, allowing visitors to soak in their exotic and ethnic charms.
During the performance, accompanied by light shows and water performances, Cuban classic Mojito, Russian folk-music-infused The Second Waltz, Brazilian classic Tico Tico, and the renowned waltz The Blue Danube were played.
When Chinese songs like Alishan Girl, Butterfly Lovers, and I Love You, China were played, the entire audience sang along, turning the venue into a sea of music.
"This 'three entries' performance was performed at the scenic spot, aiming to engage a wide range of tourists. We chose well-known Chinese and foreign classic songs in hope of promoting the integrated development of culture and tourism through music," said Xie Jun, the leader of the orchestra.
The Guizhou Song and Dance Theater's Symphony Orchestra participated in both the 4th and 5th sessions of the West China Convention of Symphony Orchestras. During this year's convention, it also performed the symphony concert Ode to Mountains and Rivers at the closing ceremony.
