In recent years, Xifeng county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been capitalizing on its rich tourism offerings and cool climate to develop summer resort and rural tourism industries based on different types of tourism including health and wellness, study tours, seasonal tourism, and sports.
Xifeng has created a number of exemplary new tourism business models, pioneering the integrated development of agriculture, culture and tourism.
Since the beginning of this year, Xifeng has welcomed over 8,050 visits to rural areas, generating an income of over 20 million yuan and highlighting the increasing prominence of the rural tourism industry.
Tourists who come to escape the summer heat expressed their appreciation for Xifeng's comfortable and welcoming environment.
"The air and the environment are good, and it's a place you don't want to leave once you come," said Lyu Jianxin, a tourist from Chongqing who has been visiting Xifeng during the summer for four years.
Every mid-June, Lyu brings his family to stay in Lyuhua village of Qingshan Miao township until early September.
Lyu said, "Our life here is colorful. In addition to accommodation and health offerings, the village also organized a summer holiday festival. We made ciba (glutinous rice cake), participated in the long-table feast, and enjoyed the local ethnic singing and dance performances. My family and friends all feel happy and welcome here."
To ensure that visitors from all over the country can eat, stay, play and travel comfortably and safely in Xifeng, the county has optimized resource allocation and introduced a series of convenient measures related to catering, accommodation, transportation, shopping and entertainment, providing refined, user-friendly and personalized services.
"Next, Xifeng will focus on developing red tourism and hot springs, give full play to the advantages of ecological environment and rural areas, and promote the development of Xifeng's rural tourism industry," said Yu Yigang, deputy director of Xifeng bureau of culture, sports, radio, television and tourism.
By fully utilizing tourist attractions such as the Nanshan Mountain Range, Xiwang Mountain and Wujiang Canyon, the county will strengthen the rural tourism industry.
With the "Youjian Nanshan" and "Youjian Wujiang" homestay projects, Xifeng will enhance diverse supporting facilities and products in areas such as catering, shopping and leisure to attract visitors from surrounding areas.
