At the RCEP Traditional Medicine Industry Development Round-table Conference of the China-ASEAN Conference on Traditional Medicine Innovation and Development held at the Guiyang International Fashion Release Center in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Aug 23, Guiyang's Nanming district and the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
According to the agreement, the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies will support the hosting of the RCEP Traditional Medicine Industry Development Round-table Conference in Nanming, jointly promote international exchanges and cooperation in traditional medicine, strive to facilitate implementable cooperation projects, and endeavor to establish the round-table conference as a permanent platform for international exchanges in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
The agreement also entails the federation's support for Nanming in conducting research on local standards for Guizhou's characteristic ethnic medicinal materials, jointly promoting the commercialization of research results related to Guizhou's ethnic medicine, and introducing various products to the market.
Both parties will engage in promotional activities for TCM, jointly launch a series of public-oriented cultural activities related to TCM, promote TCM culture and knowledge, and create a series of branded TCM events.
Additionally, they will collaborate on TCM cultural tourism, jointly develop TCM health tourism products, cultivate local characteristic TCM health tourism brands, and promote deep integration between the tourism industry and TCM health services.
Nanming, the main urban area of Guiyang, received approval in February 2020 to establish Guizhou's first "provincial comprehensive TCM service demonstration area".
In May 2021, the RCEP Industrial Cooperation Research Institute and the secretariat of the China-ASEAN TCM Industry Cooperation Committee landed in Nanming, marking the beginning of a new chapter in industrial cooperation between Guizhou and RCEP countries.
