This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Guiyang Botanical Garden of Medical Plants, which is located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

To thank visitors for their support and welcome more people to explore the garden and learn about Guizhou's traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) plant culture, the garden, in collaboration with Tongcheng Travel, recently launched a free admission activity.

Each visitor's first adult ticket for the garden purchased on the Tongcheng Travel App is free of charge from Aug 16 to Dec 31.

The garden is currently the only botanical garden in Guizhou that combines scientific research, popular science and tourism. It also integrates botanical science, garden artistry, rich TCM culture, and Guizhou's medicinal plant resources.

Strolling through the tranquil garden, visitors can hear the rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze, the birds chirping and the insects buzzing. The garden's fresh air has a hint of earthiness, mixed with floral scents and the fragrance of trees.

Here, visitors can admire seasonal medicinal plants while walking along the path towards the mountaintop, where they are surrounded by a unique ecological landscape featuring a subtropical plateau.

There is also a vast grassy area in the garden, where visitors can fly kites, set up tents, or sit with their family on the grass, enjoying a peaceful time in the forest. Children can also learn about medicinal plants and traditional Chinese medicine in the garden.

Established in 2006, the Guiyang Medicinal Resources Museum inside the garden houses over 40,000 exhibits (animal and plant specimens), showcasing Chinese medicinal resources and traditional Chinese medicine culture.

It is the first professional museum to promote traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine in Guizhou, and one of the few ethnic medicine museums in the country.
