Sanfu, the hottest period of summer in the Chinese lunar calendar, began on July 15. While many cities are experiencing sweltering temperatures, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is welcoming visitors seeking a summer retreat with its refreshing temperature of 23 C.

To boost the summer retreat economy, Qiantao township in Huaxi district began focusing on leisure businesses such as accommodation, barbecuing, and fruit picking in July last year, and has been promoting these businesses to surrounding villages.

Tourists from Hubei, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Sichuan, and other regions have left with a positive impression of Guiyang as an ideal place to escape the heat.

Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area are also revitalizing idle rural resources and developing summer tourism by offering authentic agriculture experiences. In Xifeng county's Songjiazhai village, a "company + cooperative + farmer" model has been adopted.

This approach not only explores agricultural culture, but also creates an agricultural eco-park integrating leisure, entertainment, and product sales, with a cooperative model where the operating entity holds 80 percent, farmers 10 percent, and the village collectives 10 percent in developing homestays.

Damu village in Liutun town, Xiuwen county, is relying on its national-level titles such as "national rural governance demonstration village", "China's beautiful village for leisure" and "China's ethnic characteristic village" to build a thriving, wealthy, ecologically beautiful, and livable village.

With its rich resources, Damu is improving infrastructure and attracting tourism projects. The village plans to renovate traditional Bouyei-style houses into various styles of homestays, enhancing accommodation capacity and travel experiences. Currently, the village's homestays offer over 1,000 beds.
