Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province held an intangible cultural heritage (ICH) exhibition and an ICH shopping festival on Jun 10, which was also the Dragon Boat Festival.
The event showcased representative ICH items through exhibitions and performances, a shopping festival, traditional martial arts displays, an abacus calculation and abacus mental calculation performance, a guqin (a traditional seven-stringed zither) concert, an exhibition of ICH protection achievements, and seminars themed on ICH.
These activities aimed to tell the stories, experience and achievements of ICH protection in Guiyang and Gui'an.
During the event, certificates were awarded to Guiyang's ICH experience spaces, 2024 cultural talents (ICH category), and the 11th batch of Nanming district's representative ICH items.
At the ICH market, around 70 ICH enterprises, workshops, and studios from various districts (counties and county-level cities) of Guiyang and Gui'an conducted product exhibitions and sales.
The products involved traditional medicine, ethnic culture, ethnic clothing, foods, and creative cultural products, satisfying public needs for health, culture, sightseeing, food, and shopping.
ICH is a witness to the continuity, innovation, unity, inclusiveness, and peacefulness of Chinese civilization, and an important cultural and tourism resource for "Cool Guiyang".
This event showcased achievements and examples of ICH protection and inheritance in Guiyang and Gui'an, demonstrating the unique charm and vitality of ICH and promoting its integration into modern life.
