In May, the big-leaf hydrangeas in Xiuqiu Garden – a pocket park in Guanshanhu district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – entered full bloom, creating a romantic sea of flowers for visitors to enjoy.
This pocket park covers a total area of 3,400 square meters and is part of Guanshanhu's "15-minute living circle", adjacent to the "Bihai cultural activity center" and the "elderly care service center."
The surrounding area includes residential communities like Bihai Garden and REG Yueshanhu, as well as large commercial complexes like Wanda Plaza.
Xiuqiu Garden is home to more than 26,000 hydrangeas of over 20 varieties.
Previously, there was only a fitness trail, but considering that residents and tourists needed a place to rest during exercise, the relevant departments redesigned the garden.
The garden officially opened on May 14, attracting many nearby residents and tourists, enhancing the quality of life for locals, and providing a great destination for summer outings and flower viewing.
In 2024, Guiyang plans to create 10 pocket parks, improving the city's appearance and living quality by increasing the number of plants, installing fitness facilities, and adding recreational amenities. Each park will have its own characteristics, providing locals with excellent leisure and exercise options.
