Guiyang's tourism market booms during May Day holiday

During this year's May Day holiday (May 1-5), the tourism market in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, showed a strong recovery.

Not only did the city's three major railway stations register record passenger numbers, but Guiyang also successfully ranked among the top 10 popular destination cities during the holiday period.

The rich and colorful culture and tourism activities meticulously planned by Guiyang's districts, county-level cities and counties brought about a substantial increase in the number of tourists and tourism revenue.

During the May Day holiday, Huaxi district received a total of 1.66 million visits across all of its attractions, ranking first in Guiyang.

Nanming district ranked second in the city in terms of the total number of visits received, with a year-on-year increase of 34.2 percent. It ranked first in tourism revenue, with a year-on-year increase of 37.1 percent.

The attractions across Yunyan district cumulatively received 1.24 million visits, an increase of 10.1 percent compared to the same period last year. It achieved a total tourism revenue of about 998 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.1 percent.

Kaiyang county received a total of 812,800 visits throughout the holiday, achieving a tourism revenue of 430 million yuan.

Baiyun district's tourism market continued to recover, seeing growth in tourist numbers and tourism revenue. According to statistics, from May 1 to 5, the district's tourist areas received a total of 546,965 visits, with total tourism revenue reaching 304 million yuan, an increase of 43.1 percent and 44.8 percent respectively compared to the same period in 2023.

Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone received a total of 168,000 visits across its eight scenic spots, with its comprehensive tourism revenue reaching about 9.72 million yuan.

Guanshanhu district received a total of 607,900 visits, indicating an increase of 15.5 percent compared to the same period last year. It achieved a total tourism revenue of 364 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.8 percent.

Xiuwen county received a total of 685,600 visits, achieving a tourism revenue of 347.77 million yuan, with year-on-year increases of 8.83 percent and 9.97 percent respectively.

Wudang district saw 586,500 visits, an increase of 9.32 percent compared to the same period last year. It achieved a tourism revenue of 298 million yuan, showing an increase of 10.74 percent year-on-year.
