The travel peak for the May Day holiday concluded on May 6. During the eight-day period, the total number of passengers sent from stations under the direct management of Guiyang Railway Station reached 1.53 million, an increase of 11.3 percent compared to the previous year.
Among them, Guiyangbei Railway Station saw the travel of 850,000 passengers, Guiyangdong Railway Station saw the travel of 152,000 passengers, and Guiyang Railway Station saw the travel of 372,000 passengers.
With the end of the Qingming Festival holiday and the implementation of policies on the exemption of scenic spot tickets, entering scenic areas with just one ticket over the course of the five days, and enjoying discounts for tolls issued by Guizhou's culture and tourism departments, the travel demand during the May Day holiday continued to rise.
Tourist numbers surged in Guizhou's Zunyi, Anshun, and Libo, while local residents traveled outside the province to destinations such as Guangzhou, Kunming, and Nanning.
In response to peak passenger flows, each railway station formulated emergency plans for large passenger flows in advance. They also arranged for more than 200 off-duty workers to be on standby, and organized more than 50 volunteers to be stationed at the most-visited railway stations to provide on-site services.
During the May Day holiday (May 1-5), Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport's passenger throughput reached 322,100. It saw an average of 64,400 travelers per day, and facilitated a total of 2,264 takeoffs and landings, averaging 453 per day.
The airport's daily passenger throughput increased by 10.34 percent compared with the May Day holiday in 2023 (April 29-May 3), while its takeoffs and landings increased by 8.17 percent. Its current also showed a rise of 9.85 percent and 2.72 percent respectively when compared with the May Day holiday in 2019 (May 1-4).
