Flowers boost tourism income in Guiyang and Gui'an

As the flower viewing season approaches, the rural landscapes in various places in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, have become colorful attractions, drawing a large number of tourists to the countryside.

The growing number of tourists is boosting rural tourism consumption and the flower-viewing economy.

In Xiaba town, Guiyang's Wudang district, tourism activities that involve flower viewing and picking fruits have enriched local tourism.

This year, Wudang has highlighted six routes for cherry blossom viewing, including these along Songjiaba Industrial Park, Binhe Small Town, Longzhong, Xiazhuang group of Guba village, Lapin village, and Bazi group of Gugeng village.

Known as the "hometown of cherries", Xiaba has also developed planting projects to grow yellow peaches, Qingcui plums, Jinqiu pears, and Yanhong peaches in recent years, striving to become a town with more than 100 fruit varieties.

Maiweng Bouyei Ancient Village in Guiyang's Huaxi district is tapping into the flower-viewing economy and enhancing its reputation for rural tourism.

Relying on the beautiful ecological environment of Shilihetan Wetland Park, Maiweng has developed a leisure tourism strategy based on its own characteristics. By tapping into resources such as food, culture, and entertainment, Maiweng has created a distinctive tourism brand.

Shilihetan Wetland Park is a tourist destination that highlights its flower-viewing resources. Different types of flowers bloom throughout the year, with cherry blossoms, cole flowers, and peach blossoms in spring; lotus flowers and wildflowers in summer; osmanthus flowers, chrysanthemums, and rice field landscapes in autumn; and camellias and plum blossoms in winter.

Shaxi village in Guiyang's Xiuwen county is giving full play to its natural environment and becoming a destination for micro-vacations.

By planning and guiding the development of the flower-viewing economy, the cole flower planting area in Xiuwen has reached more than 50,000 mu (3,333.3 hectares).

In addition to cole flowers, tourist spots such as Damu village, Gaochao village, Zhexi village, and Wugongqiao village have also planted peach blossoms and pear blossoms to attract a continuous stream of tourists throughout the year.

Next, with the goal of creating an "urban micro-vacation travel destination", Xiuwen will continually explore the integration of rural agriculture, culture, and tourism resources, and pioneer ways to increase farmers' incomes.
