Guiyang and Gui'an improve elderly care service system

Since 2023, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province have been striving to improve people's well-being and plan to build 15-minute elderly care service circles, which are being developed through the continuous improvement of related services, establishment of service facilities, and improvement of operation models.

As of now, Guiyang and Gui'an are home to two welfare homes, 80 nursing homes, 41 sub-district elderly care service centers, and 337 community elderly care service stations, enough to cover 140 service circles.

By upgrading public institutions and government idle assets, Guiyang and Gui'an have advanced the construction of standardized nursing homes, enhancing service guarantees and operational management.

A total of 29 standardized nursing homes have been renovated, and in 2021, Xingfuli elderly care service center and other high-quality institutions were established, adding more than 1,500 nursing beds.

Guiyang and Gui'an have improved policies and elderly care services at regional, sub-district and community levels based on the needs of the elderly. To date, they have added 25 sub-district elderly care service centers and 264 community elderly care service stations, covering an area of 92,000 square meters and providing 1,100 beds.

Addressing the operational challenges of community elderly care service stations, Guiyang and Gui'an have explored cooperation between companies and districts/counties, making plans for the Xingfuli elderly care service center to operate two institutions, five centers, and 47 stations in Nanming district and Qingzhen county-level city.

They have also encouraged cooperation between elderly care service institutions, centers and stations, allowing six nursing homes to operate 16 centers and 86 stations.

Furthermore, through the cooperation between micro and small-sized companies or social organizations and elderly care service stations, Guiyang and Gui'an have helped 13 enterprises and social organizations to operate two centers and 53 stations.

Lastly, Guiyang and Gui'an have helped State-owned enterprises to build and operate four institutions, two centers, and two stations, solving the problem of institution utilization.
