Guiyang and Gui'an to boost digital economy development by 2025

"In 2025, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area aim to grow the added-value of the digital economy to account for 55 percent of the regional GDP," said Xu Xianwen, deputy director of the Guiyang bureau of big data development and management, during a press conference on Jan 16.

Guiyang and Gui'an consider the digital economy crucial to high-quality development and are invigorating the city through the digital economy in terms of reform, development and people's wellbeing, so as to form a digital economy development innovation area.

Guiyang and Gui'an are accelerating digital industrialization and the digitalization of industries to activate various urban resources through data and promote the extensive integration of digital technology with various economic, social, and industrial fields.

This transformation is expected to drive changes in production methods, lifestyles, and governance systems. It is also set to promote high-quality development, create a high-quality lifestyle, and enhance the city's competitiveness.

Meanwhile, Guiyang and Gui'an are expediting the construction of a national hub for integrated computing power networks and expanding Gui'an's data center cluster. By promoting the large-scale deployment of computing power clusters, Guiyang and Gui'an aim to make data calculations more efficient.

"We will speed up the layout of the computing power network and next-generation digital infrastructure, such as 5G, with the 'channeling computing resources from the east to the west' project. We will enhance the utilization rate of international data channels and reduce the one-way latency between Guiyang-Gui'an and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Yangtze River Delta, the Chengdu-Chongqing region, and the surrounding provinces. We want to accelerate the circulation of data," Xu explained.

According to Xu, Guiyang and Gui'an will also implement the empowerment action for the integration of 10,000 enterprises with big data, and expedite the integration of commercial, civilian, and governmental digital scenarios. This will boost various industries in regards to big data, and it will ensure that data can be effectively utilized.

By 2025, Guiyang-Gui'an aims to build 4 million servers, achieve the average 5G base station count of developed areas in East China per 10,000 people, and create over 1,000 digital application scenarios.
