During the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday period, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area will hold more than 100 commercial, tourism, cultural and sports activities, according to a press conference held on Jan 22.
These will include a citywide feast of Chinese New Year goods, which will be arranged according to the Guizhou Provincial Department of Commerce, as well as roadside music concerts during the Spring Festival holiday. Nanming district, Wudang district, Qingzhen county-level city, and Xiuwen county will host ethnic song and dance performances, ethnic costume exhibitions, ethnic sports activities, and experiences of ethnic customs.
Cultural venues such as the Guiyang Confucius Academy will organize activities, including a garden party and lantern riddle guessing games, to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Qianlingshan Park will host immersive gaming activities, allowing visitors to enjoy a thrilling visual experience through virtual reality and films.
Tianhetan scenic area will hold a series of firework shows to welcome the Chinese New Year. Qingyan Ancient Town will feature dragon dances, accompanied by ancient-style fashion shows, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) welcoming ceremonies, and other activities, immersing visitors in Chinese culture.
During the Chinese New Year, Guiyang will organize for more than 100 middle and high-end catering companies, as well as traditional local restaurants, to offer food festivals and sales campaigns both online and offline.
Guiyang will also hold over 80 sports events for the general public, including basketball, soccer, ice and snow sports, and off-road racing.
Guiyang will also launch a variety of promotional activities for the Chinese New Year, covering shopping, parking, movie viewing, sports, and scenic area tickets. More than consumer vouchers worth 13 million yuan will be issued, and the parking lots of government departments and public institutions will be open for free. Major cinemas will offer daily discounts on movie tickets.
Until Feb 29, visitors will be able to enter scenic areas over the course of multiple days with just one ticket, enjoy discounts on accommodations and tolls, and qualified residents will enjoy free admission to certain State-owned A-level scenic spots.
