A Boeing 737-700 cargo plane from Kolkata, India, arrived at the Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport carrying 3 metric tons of crabs, a designated controlled good, at 18:50 on Dec 13.
Just two hours later, the same aircraft loaded 16 tons of cargo bound for Kolkata from Guiyang, marking the official opening of the Guiyang-Kolkata international freight route.
This was the first international freight route of the "international postal matter exchange station, international express center, bonded logistics center, international freight center, and customs supervision center" initiative of Guizhou, with the Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport's comprehensive designated supervision area for international cargo finally being put into operation.
The initial plan for this route is to operate three flights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with an estimated monthly import and export volume of over 400 tons of goods.
The imported goods will mainly consist of seafood and fruits from South Asia, while the exported goods will include clothing accessories, spare machinery parts, and display screens.
The Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport's comprehensive designated supervision area for international cargo covers an area of approximately 3,000 square meters and is divided into three designated product operation areas: an edible aquatic animal inspection zone, an inbound frozen aquatic product inspection zone, and an inbound fruit inspection zone.
These areas can meet the inspection, quarantine, and supervision requirements for the whole process of importing fruits, frozen aquatic products, and edible aquatic animals.
