2 Guiyang, Guian hospitals selected as National Regional Medical Centers

Two hospitals, the Guizhou Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University and the Guizhou Hospital of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Guiyang City and Guian New Area in Guizhou province, are listed among the fifth batch of names for National Regional Medical Centers.

The list was recently released by the General Office of the National Development and Reform Commission, the General Office of the National Health Commission, and the Comprehensive Department of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The Guizhou Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University is a public comprehensive tertiary hospital jointly built by the provincial government and the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University. The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University serves as the output hospital, while the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University is the supporting hospital.

Located at the heart of the Guian New Area, the hospital is divided into two sections. The first section started operating in July 2021, with a total construction area of 374,700 square meters and a planned bed capacity of 1,499. It includes facilities for clinical services, scientific research, teaching management, and more, with a total investment of 5.14 billion yuan ($716 million).

The first section focuses on the construction of the General Surgery and Organ Transplant Center, the Respiratory and Critical Care Center, the Oncology Center, and the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center.

The second section is planned to have a total construction area of about 42,000 square meters, mainly including the Medical Big Data Artificial Intelligence Center, Clinical Research Center, Research and Development Center, and Clinical Skills Training Center.

The Guizhou Hospital of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine has recently passed official inspection. It is a key livelihood project of the provincial Party committee and government, jointly built by the Third People's Hospital of Guiyang City and Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine.

It is located in the middle section of Huaxi Avenue, Nanming district, covering an area of about 1,350 square meters and a total construction area of 28,798.59 square meters, including 18 floors above ground and two floors underground. It is equipped with 300 beds.

After the hospital opens, it will bring in top experts, advanced management concepts, and talent training models from Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine to help improve traditional Chinese medicine services in Guizhou.
