Guiyang's foreign trade takes off in Jan-May

Over the first five months of this year, Southwest China's Guizhou reported 32.76 billion yuan ($4.55 billion) in foreign trade volume, an increase of 47.2 percent, including exports of 23.79 billion yuan, a surge of 60.6 percent, according to statistics issued by the Guiyang Customs.

The city of Guiyang, which serves as the capital of Guizhou, has reported a total of 25.1 billion yuan in both exports and imports. This figure is 4.7 percentage points higher than the overall provincial level.

From January to May, Guizhou's three comprehensive bonded zones saw total foreign trade of 12.1 billion yuan, up 100.4 percent, accounting for 36.9 percent of the province's total.

Imports and exports from private enterprises rose by 88.9 percent compared to the same period last year.

ASEAN, Hong Kong, and Taiwan had become Guizhou's top three trading partners.
