Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has so far established friendly relations with 27 cities, including sister cities, according to a news conference held on July 6.

In recent years, Guiyang has been taking measures to expand relations with international sister cities, and has achieved a breakthrough in both quantity and quality.

Since 2020, Guiyang has signed letters of intent online to establish friendly relationships with 10 cities, including Rivera in Uruguay, Tripoli in Greece, and Ta Khmau in Cambodia.

Utilizing foreign trade representative offices, international forums, and platforms of friendly provinces and states, Guiyang is exploring and promoting friendly cooperation in the areas of trade and investment.

Based on demand and cooperation in areas such as business, tourism, food processing, animal husbandry, and infrastructure, Guiyang has established friendly relationships with cities like Solingen in Germany, Sumy in Ukraine, and Rivera in Uruguay.

The "youth education exchange program" between Guiyang and Fort Worth, the United States, has been going on since 2011, with more than 120 students participating.

This program has received awards such as the "China friendship city exchange and cooperation award" and "China-US friendship city" award, serving as an example of cultural and educational exchanges between Chinese and American youth.

Guiyang has hosted various sub-events for important events such as the China International Big Data Industry Expo and Eco Forum Global Guiyang. Representatives from sister cities have been invited to share experiences and achievements, while promoting Guiyang to other international cities and enhancing its international image.
