At 18:40 on June 30, a Boeing aircraft painted with Guizhou's famous landscapes took off from Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport and headed for Hong Kong International Airport.
This marked the resumption of the Guiyang-Hong Kong flight route and the official opening of Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport's port functional area and international freight center at Terminal 3.
With the increasing demand for travel between Guiyang and Hong Kong and the gradual recovery of the tourism market, Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport coordinated with Southern Airlines to resume the Guiyang-Hong Kong flight route.
Flights are available every Friday with departure from Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport at 18:40. The flight arrives at Hong Kong International Airport at 20:40. The return flight departs from Hong Kong at 21:40 and arrives in Guiyang the next day at 00:05. The flight duration for one-way is estimated to be around two hours.
The Hong Kong route resuming from Guiyang is crucial for promoting economic development, optimizing the business environment, and leveraging the regional hub function of Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport. As a vital air transportation hub for Guizhou, this development holds significant significance.
The first direct flight from Guiyang to Hong Kong carried 5 metric tons of cargo, mainly consisting of raw materials imported by companies within the free trade zones and electronic processing companies in the Guian Free Trade Zone.
"Before the resumption of the direct route, cargo from Guiyang to Hong Kong had to be transited through Beijing, Wuhan, and other cities, taking three to four days and increasing the transportation cost by nearly double. Multiple transfers also increased the risk of cargo damage."
"With the opening of this flight, raw materials can be quickly imported, and finished products can be swiftly exported, improving the operational efficiency and increasing production capacity," said Jiang Zhuwei, general manager of the air market marketing department of Guizhou Civil Aviation Industry Group.
So far, Guiyang Airport has resumed three international and regional passenger flight routes to Bangkok, Phuket, and Hong Kong. In the future, it will resume flights to Macao, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and other destinations to accelerate the development of an international flight network.
