June 10 marked China's 18th Cultural and Natural Heritage Day. On that day, Guiyang and Guian New Area held a cultural heritage exhibition and a related shopping festival at the College of Humanities and Science of Guizhou Minzu University.
Entitled "Strengthen the Systematical Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage, Promote Sustainable Development" and "Protection and Utilization of Cultural Relics and Cultural Self-Confidence", the event included logo-collecting for Guiyang's key cultural relics, performances of intangible cultural heritage and a cultural products fair, aiming to publicize the achievements in the protection and utilization of cultural relics and integrate the development of intangible cultural heritage and cultural relics into modern life.
The event unveiled the 7th batch of municipal intangible cultural heritage representatives and the first and second batch of cultural talents, issuing certificates to them which are expected to encourage them to contribute to the protection of intangible cultural heritage and develop cultural products.
In addition, 40 intangible cultural heritage enterprises, workshops and studios as well as 10 enterprises related to cultural products and museums brought products ranging from traditional medicine to ethnic costumes and handicrafts to the shopping festival.
The event also set up branch venues at Guiyang Children's Library, cultural squares and scenic spots in various districts, cities and counties, and related supporting activities and a series of activities will continue to be carried out in June.
