The art exhibition "A Universal Genius: Salvador Dali" will be held at the Guiyang International Fashion Release Center in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, from April 27 to Aug 31.

The exhibition is in memory of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationships between China and Spain, and is part of the 2023 China-Spain Year of Culture and Tourism.

It will be the first time that the exhibition has been held in Guizhou and the third time it has been held in China after the Beijing exhibition in 2000 and the Shanghai exhibition in 2015.

The exhibition will include eight exhibition areas presenting 121 original works by Dali, three replicas, two installation art works, four visual installation art works, and two films about Dali, meaning it will have the largest number of Dali's original works, as well as the longest run time of any Dali exhibition ever in China.

Eduardo Lopez Busquets, consul general of the Consulate General of Spain in Chengdu, said at a press conference on the exhibition on Feb 16 that the efforts from both China and Spain are essential to the successful organization of the exhibition, and he is grateful to the Guizhou Provincial Government and the organizer.

Gerardo Bugallo Ottone, counselor of the Spanish Embassy in China, spoke highly of the Guiyang International Fashion Release Center and said he looks forward to the exhibition. The embassy attaches great importance to the exhibition, and hopes to take the opportunity to promote cultural exchanges between Spain and Guizhou, according to Ottone.

Zhang Hanlin, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guizhou Province, said that both China and Spain have long histories and rich cultures. The international top-level exhibition is the first Spanish cultural exchange activity to be held in Guizhou since the Consulate General of Spain in Chengdu was established.

Zhang said he hopes that through the exhibition, mutual understanding and friendship between people in Guizhou and Spain will be enhanced, and more exchanges and cooperation will be promoted in the future.
