Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently released its comprehensive transportation system plan for 2021-35. The plan aims to enhance and improve Guiyang and Guian New Area's position as a national comprehensive transportation hub.

Guiyang will expand the capacity of its air transportation, speed up the construction of its high-speed railway, improve highway connectivity, integrate with sea transportation, form a railway network, and build a passenger transport circle and freight transport circle centered in Guiyang.

According to the plan, Guiyang will build a regional international airport hub to meet an estimated aviation passenger throughput of 55 million in 2035.

Guiyang will also build the new Chongqing-Guiyang high-speed railway, and expand the transportation capability between Jiuchang Railway Station and Dulaying Railway Station.

By 2035, Guiyang's expressways will have a total length of 1,072 kilometers, and will connect to Chongqing, Chengdu, Kunming, Nanning and Changsha in both directions.

Based on the Wujiang River waterway, Guiyang will build an inland waterway system connecting main streams and tributaries.

By 2035, Guiyang's road network will be increased from 6.7 km per square kilometer to 8 km per sq-km, connecting the different clusters and industrial parks in the city, and meeting the needs of urban development.

Guiyang aims to build a public transport network centered on urban rail transit, but will also improve its other public transport modes.

To solve the parking problem, Guiyang aims to increase the parking supply ratio to 1.2 parking spaces per car by 2035.

Guiyang plans to build bicycle lanes to the length of 100 km in Guanshanhu district and Baiyun district. It will also deploy 75,000 electric sharing bicycles, and improve green travel options in the city to more than 70 percent by 2035.

Guiyang will build a complex external logistics channel focusing on road and railway transportation with water and air transportation as auxiliaries. This will ensure the efficient distribution of logistics transportation.

Finally, in order to form intelligent traffic systems and improve the city's traffic problem, Guiyang plans to build one municipal traffic database, five smart transportation application systems, and one travel service platform.
