The Guizhou Provincial Department of Commerce and Guizhou University of Commerce in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, co-established and unveiled the inland college of open economics on Nov 29.

The department licensed the college as the Guizhou inland open economic talents training base and Guizhou inland open think tank.

Currently, the college has two undergraduate majors: international business and international economy and trade. It plans to enroll 200 undergraduate students in 2023.

Lyu Guofu, Party secretary of Guizhou University of Commerce, said that the college aims to train talents in open economy and contribute to Guizhou's development as a hub for inland open economy.

The college's primary tasks are to cultivate professionals who are proficient in international economy and trade, international business, business English, and cross-border e-commerce. It should also train talents to master business skills and become proficient in the languages of ASEAN countries, Lyu said.

More than half of the full-time teachers of the college have studied abroad, and boast rich experience in teaching and researching international business and international economy and trade.

In June of this year, Guizhou Provincial Department of Commerce proposed 13 approaches to support Guizhou University of Commerce in exploring the development of inland open economy.
