At the fifth China International Import Expo or CIIE, currently ongoing in East China's Shanghai, an unmanned minibus made in Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is being showcased to the delight of visitors at the vehicle exhibition area.
The cute, unmanned minibus was co-developed by the Hong Kong Automotive Platforms and Application Systems (APAS) R&D Center and Guiyang's PIX Moving Co. By utilizing PIX Moving's sliding plate chassis, the bus can realize a flexible system layout with a low level of R&D difficulty.
Li Yu, senior consultant from the smart city department of the Hong Kong Productivity Council, said the vehicle can realize L4 level unmanned driving and carry six passengers at the same time.
The minibus will complete a field test and road test next year and be put into use as soon as possible. It will be considered for use in Hong Kong's West Kowloon Cultural District and Hong Kong Science Park.
