Shanshuijian Park, the largest Suzhou-style park in Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently opened to the public in the city's Huaxi district.
According to UNESCO, the exceptionally elegant classical gardens of Suzhou – a city located in East China's Jiangsu province – "represent the development of Chinese landscape garden design over more than 2,000 thousand years" and are the "most refined form" of garden art.
The new park covers a total area of 1,323 mu (88.2 hectares) with a total investment of 4.38 billion yuan ($629.2 million). It neighbors Huaxi Park and the Huaxi district government offices and is surrounded by greenbelts.
It includes squares, boardwalks, a water quality improvement system, waterscapes, greenbelts and other support facilities. The park's wetland covers 58 mu and the lakes cover a total of more than 30 mu.
As one of the main scenic areas in Huaxi district, Shanshuijian Park is expected to become an ideal place for residents to relax and enjoy the cool weather.
