Kunpeng applications, innovation competition held in Guiyang

The regional finals of the 2022 Kunpeng applications and innovation competition took place in the city of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Aug 24.

Kunpeng is the leading hardware product brand developed by high-tech and communications giant Huawei.

The competition aims to promote industrial application innovations, accelerate industrial integration, promote the training of people and attract developers to create full stack solutions of Kunpeng.

The event attracted 221 teams from 766 developers to compete this year, with 40 teams entering the regional finals.

The total prize money for the regional finals was 108,000 yuan ($15,620) – in an event offering three golden prizes, six silver prizes, 12 bronze prizes and 18 winning prizes for 40 projects.

Since Guizhou signed a strategic agreement with Huawei in 2016, both sides have enhanced their commercial cooperation and attracted the Kunpeng ecosystem to the province in 2020.

The Kunpeng server production base and a Kunpeng ecosystem innovation center started operating there. Huawei has since worked with more than 100 companies in the region, offering more than 120 solutions, issuing more than 180 Kunpeng adapter certifications and training more than 1,100 people.

Moreover, the headquarters of Huawei Cloud opened in Guizhou and it has become the first software service company in the province to exceed 10 billion yuan in annual business revenue.

Currently, Kunpeng strategy has become the main focus of commercial high-tech cooperation between Guizhou and Huawei, with the Kunpeng ecosystem leading big data industrial development in the region.

The winning projects at the regional finals will be selected as excellent cases that will be promoted at the Kunpeng ecosystem innovation center.

Since its launch in 2020, the Kunpeng applications and innovation competition has transformed into a top contest that challenges China's high-tech developers. It has forged a bridge for technical exchanges between universities and companies and promoted the cultivation of Kunpeng talent.

Plans are for it to also accelerate the commercialization of Kunpeng technologies and realize the construction of a Kunpeng technology and industrial ecosystem.
