A contract to build a new data center for Industrial Bank Co Ltd was recently signed in the Guian New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province – taking only 79 days from negotiations to the sign-off.

The Industrial Bank – a commercial bank based in Fuzhou, capital of China's Southeast Fujian province – will construct the facility in the new area.

The center will cost 8 billion yuan ($1.17 billion), including the first stage involving capital expenditure of 3 billion yuan to install 48,000 servers. When completed, it will have 200,000 servers and the complex is expected to attract more projects by commercial banks.

In recent years, Guiyang has been focusing on creating a data center cluster and has attracted investment from Fortune Global 500 companies such as Huawei, Tencent and Apple.

During the talks over the new project, Guian established a special team to meet the needs of Industrial Bank's data center, including data security and electricity supplies.

The team will also provide services for further negotiations, location selection, construction and the operations of the project.
