The 2022 Guizhou cili (rosa roxburghii) industry high-quality development seminar was held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on July 21.
The seminar invited government officials, experts and scholars to discuss the brand strategy and high-quality development system construction, as well as the national standard system construction of cili.
Guizhou has formed a full cili industrial chain that is eco-friendly, healthy and regionally specific.
In 2021, Guizhou was home to 2.1 million mu (140,000 hectares) of cili plantation area with 11.1 billion yuan ($1.64 billion) in output value.
Tan Shuming, director of the Guizhou Rosa Roxburghii Research Institute, said Guizhou's cili products are currently transforming from agricultural products to industrial products, and are still a long way from becoming health care products, which means Guizhou needs high standards to regulate the cili products.
Zhu Fengtao, deputy director of the Jinna Fruit Research Institute of the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, said that the establishment of national cili standards will improve the processing technologies and production techniques used in the cili industry.
According to Xi Xingjun, director of the Institute of Standards of Agriculture and Food to China National Institute of Standardization, setting national and industrial standards will help Guizhou make the most of its cili industrial development.
