Transport vocational education platform launched in Guiyang

The International Alliance of Skills Development Transport Vocational Education and Skills Development Working Committee was established in Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – on July 16.

Yang Tianyi, deputy director of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education, said at the launch ceremony that the city was focusing on its high-quality development and aimed to bolster its industrial development and fight against poverty through the development of vocational education.

The committee is expected to focus on training international talents, improve the quality of transport vocational education and facilitate communications between transport sectors, vocational colleges and companies.

Zhang Jing, Party secretary of Guizhou Communications Polytechnic, said that the committee was aiming to integrate the resources of vocational education, skills, information and the general standards of countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the BRICS countries.

The committee will hold transport vocational skills competitions, serve as a cooperation platform for vocational colleges and companies and train highly-trained international professionals.

As a member of the committee, the polytechnic has set itself the goal of serving the BRI and ensuring that advanced transport engineering technologies go global.

Jiangsu Shipping College was designated as the director college and 29 colleges were designated as deputy director colleges of the committee.
