Railway E-card, a new generation of real-name electronic card product issued by Railway 12306 – China's official railway ticket-booking mobile app – was recently put into use on the loop-line of the Guiyang urban express railway in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The loop-line became the first railway in Guizhou to implement the Railway E-card service, which covers intercity electric multiple unit trains with the prefix "C" that stop in the loop-line.
All 17 stations on the loop-line are offering Railway E-card QR code scanning services, according to a staff member at the Guiyang North Railway Station.
The Railway E-card eliminates the need for passengers to pre-purchase tickets when entering the station. They can scan the code with their mobile phones and have their faces scanned to complete real-name verification before boarding the train, which makes entering and exiting stations much easier.
All passengers who use the Railway E-card service will enjoy discounts when taking the loop-line until Dec 31.
