The 14th Guiyang Games, the 11th Guiyang Traditional Ethnic Group Games, and the ninth Guiyang Senior Games were officially launched at the No 1 studio hall of the Guiyang Radio and Television Station on June 2.
The Guiyang City Games are the largest and highest-level sporting event with the widest range of participants to be sponsored by the Guiyang Municipal Government. They are held every four years and have been held 13 times so far.
Various events will be held at different stadiums in Guiyang from June to October. The games are in line with the provincial games, with 60 major events divided into two categories: mass fitness and youth competition. More than 16,000 athletes will participate.
The 11th Guiyang Traditional Ethnic Group Games will be held at Guiyang Kangyang Vocational University in June. There will be seven competition items related to crossbow shooting and ethnic aerobics and three performance items divided into three categories: competition, skills and comprehensiveness.
The ninth Guiyang Senior Games will consist of 36 events including table tennis, Tai Chi, chess and cards, square dancing, and fishing. The competition will run from June to December.
