This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and New Zealand, as well as the 30th anniversary of the establishment of sister city relations between Guizhou's provincial capital Guiyang and the New Zealand city Palmerston North.

To further their friendship and deepen cooperation, Guiyang and Palmerston North held a video meeting on March 22 to discuss cooperation on trade, investment, advanced manufacturing, agriculture and big data.

Li Zejun, full-time vice-president of the Guiyang People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, introduced Guiyang's basic economic and social development situation at the meeting.

He expressed hope that the meeting would promote the establishment of an efficient contact and cooperation mechanism between the two sides and lead to the signing of cooperation agreements in related areas in commemoration of their 30th sister city anniversary.

Zheng Xuke, full-time vice-president of the Guiyang sub-council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, introduced the current trade arrangement between Guiyang and New Zealand at the meeting, and proposed cooperation intentions in electronic information, auto manufacturing, new energy, aviation, and medicine.

Moving forward, Guiyang and Palmerston North will maintain close contact to screen and promote the implementation of potential cooperation projects and enhance their sister city friendship.
