Guiyang's English platform lauded for excellent communications

The official English platform of Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently won the excellence award for international communications in 2021, according to an evaluation of China's English government affairs platforms.

The assessment of the platforms has taken place since 2002 and is conducted by authoritative evaluation bodies using software assessments, self-recommendation of websites, expert reviews and other comprehensive reviews.

As the first of its kind in China, the Guiyang platform consists of one main website and 31 sub-websites covering government departments, districts, counties and development zones.

The main website has six sections – "this is Guiyang", "government", "media center", "investment", "visiting" and "living" – to provide English information on traveling, living, employment and investment for overseas readers.

The main website has also set up links to sub-websites for Guiyang's 10 districts and counties, four development zones and 17 government departments –making it an authoritative information platform in English for the city's government affairs.

In 2021, the platform moved to increase Guiyang's international profile for its eco-friendly environment and big data industry – releasing information that interested overseas readers. It enabled sub-websites to cooperate with each other and launched special reports on Guiyang's achievements.

The main website also focuses on important topics such as the Big Data Expo, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Eco Forum Global and Guiyang's overall development plans, so as to introduce the city to the world.
