Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was ranked among China's happiest cities of 2021 on Dec 30.
Currently, Guiyang has 1,025 parks and 55 percent of forest coverage. Guiyang's average temperature in summer is 28.3 C, and was home to 33 scenic spots above national A-level in 2020. It has won the title of China's best city to avoid heat in summer for many years.
In 2020, Guiyang won the title of China's national civilized city for the fourth time, established 141 demonstration villages for living environment and further ensured vegetable supply.
To improve the traffic, Guiyang launched its first bus rapid transit route in 2017, started the operation of rail transit line 1 in 2018, opened rail transit line 2 in 2021, screened 32 roads that have severe traffic jams, and launched targeted solutions to improve the traffic flow.
Guiyang's online government affairs service platform is now connected with 14 departments and offers 1,261 governmental affairs services.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) period, Guizhou established several sports projects such as pump tracks, skiing resorts, and car racing bases.
By the end of 2023, Guiyang will construct 31 community health service centers. By 2025, Guiyang will establish more than 100 elderly care centers for senior citizens.
