After five years of construction, Huawei's cloud data center in Guian New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, officially started operations on Dec 20.

The center is the largest Huawei data center in the world, and it will eventually house 1 million servers. It will cover Huawei's cloud businesses in Guizhou, Chongqing, Guangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan and Sichuan.

Guizhou is an ideal location for producing energy from renewables and its weather conditions can help to improve the quality and utilization efficiency of computing services. The cloud data center is designed to be low carbon and intelligent, with a power usage effectiveness of only 1.12.

When operating at full load, the center can save 810,000 metric tons of carbon emissions annually, which is the same as planting 35.67 million trees every year.

The center also has 98 training rooms with a total capacity of more than 3,000 people. It supports online and offline training for global clients.

So far, Huawei's cloud services have helped more than 800 local companies to realize digital transformation, and helped Guizhou establish a provincial, municipal and county-level online government affairs service system.
