Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has launched several policies to diversify local tourism products and promote tourism industrialization.

The area has worked to improve tourist experience, innovate business models, and increase tourism consumption at famous scenic spots such as Qingyan Ancient Town and Tianhetan scenic area.

This year, more than 900,000 people visited Qingyan Ancient Town at night, income earned by local catering businesses increased by 100 percent year-on-year, and the occupancy rate of Qingyan's hotels and hostels reached 98 percent.

Guiyang has improved the economic benefits of tourism by developing new commercial activities involving health and mountain sports. It has also launched study activities related to neo-Confucian philosophy, culture-tourism integration projects, and suggested travel routes for summer, autumn and winter.

To further stimulate consumption, Guiyang has created various shopping festivals, accelerated the construction of pedestrian streets and encouraged the development of its nighttime economy. The city is also attempting to cultivate tourism consumption clusters.

This year, Guiyang's Matou village was selected as a national village for rural tourism development, Qingyan Ancient Town was selected among the first batch of national nighttime culture and tourism consumption projects, and Guiyang's tourism products won big at the 2021 China Distinctive Tourism Commodities Competition.
