Since 2015, Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou province has explored the development of big data security and achieved rapid development. In the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Guiyang will construct a world-class big data security industry demonstration zone.
The demonstration zone, which is located in Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ), is under the second stage of construction. Research institutions and supporting facilities will be completed by the end of this year and put into use in 2022.
GETDZ started developing the data security industry from scratch in 2016 and achieved 1.8 billion yuan ($274.73 million) of output value in 2020. So far, the demonstration zone has attracted more than 120 big data security-related enterprises and institutions, forming an industrial ecosystem.
The zone's exhibition center receives visitors and trainees from across the country every few days. Since its establishment in 2017, the center has received more than 40,000 visits and become a platform to present Guizhou's big data security achievements.
According to the plan, the demonstration zone should attract 200 digital economy-related companies and institutions by 2025. By the same year, the big data security industry should exceed 10 billion yuan in output value and the industrial output value of new infrastructure development should also exceed 10 billion yuan.
