The city of Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province reportedly plan to accelerate the development of their digital economy in 2021 and achieve more than 180 billion yuan ($27.65 billion) of added value from it, while boosting its contribution to GDP to 39 percent.
As Guiyang's information technology service industry cluster is included in the national emerging industry cluster, Guiyang and Guian will focus on data centers and electronic information manufacturing -- as well as developing software and information technology service industry clusters to boost the wider build-out of industry clusters.
To build a data center cluster with an investment scale of more than 100 billion yuan, Guiyang and Guian will apply to be a hub node for the national integrated big data center system, attract investment for seven projects under construction, accelerate the operations of seven newly-constructed projects and complete 2.7 billion yuan in investment in the current year.
It is understood that Guiyang and Guian will focus on the development of leading industry clusters represented by the electronic information manufacturing industry, encourage intelligent terminal manufacturing and new electron components development, as well as improve the quality of industrial parks and speed up the operations of major related projects.
Guiyang and Guian will also make the development of cloud services a priority - to develop major cloud computing projects, cultivate online businesses, upgrade software outsourcing services and attract related companies to the area.
