Rivera, in northern Uruguay, is one of the country's largest cities and boasts prosperous commercial and manufacturing industries. The city has a population of 49,000. Blessed with a hilly landscape covered in top-quality grass, Rivera has developed animal husbandry, which plays a vital role in the city's economy.
Rivera has become Guiyang's new sister city, according to an online conference held by the government on Feb 23. Uruguay is an active participant in the Belt and Road Initiative and has set up a partnership with China in the fields of production capacity, trade and business, new energy and tourism. Now, Rivera will deepen cooperation with Guiyang and explore new chances to collaborate on education, sports, ecology and infrastructure.
