Wudang district in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has taken measures to ensure a "warmer" Spring Festival for people choosing to stay put instead of going home for the holiday period, according to local media reports.

Large supermarkets, vegetable markets and express outlets in the district are encouraged to stay open for business during the holiday period.

Major scenic spots and libraries are encouraged to be open to the public, so long as they meet the requirements of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control.

Festivities including writing traditional Spring Festival couplets and making paper-cuttings for window decorations have been held in the district to create a festive mood.

Those who chose to stay put enjoyed a Spring Festival Eve dinner organized by the district. So far, 82 people staying put for the holiday period have each received a Spring Festival red envelope of 300 yuan ($46.47).

Enterprises in the district are encouraged to organize cultural and sports activities under epidemic prevention and control measures, to offer comprehensive services for employees.
