Southwest China's Guizhou province has reportedly created a provincial data-sharing platform, to boost the efficiency of its inter-department information exchanges and promote the open sharing of government data.

According to Han Zhuyang, director of the data resource development department of the Guizhou provincial information center, the administrative approval time to register new businesses in the province has been reduced to 2.2 working days and approval time for engineering construction projects has been reduced to less than 80 working days.

The data-sharing platform, which includes 12 subject databases including those for poverty alleviation and credit, is believed to be providing basic support for more convenient applications and services to residents.

For example, the database on poverty alleviation contains 203 million poverty alleviation data points from 15 provincial departments, which can provide data support for targeted poverty alleviation programs.

Han added that the data on poverty alleviation is among the fastest being updated in the 12 subject databases.

Information on farmers' personal and family incomes, medical expenses and education expenses will now be collected by corresponding departments to form data that can be shared in a timely manner. The poverty alleviation office can then take countermeasures to prevent people returning to poverty due to disease or disasters.
