The transportation committee of Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, held a meeting on Jan 26 to organize the work during the Spring Festival travel rush in Guiyang and Guian New Area.

This year, Spring Festival falls on Feb 12. The holiday travel rush began on Jan 28 and will end on March 8.

According to the meeting, authorities should prioritize COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control.

The committee required all departments to implement strict disease prevention and control measures, including reducing gatherings, regularly disinfecting vehicles and stations and limiting the number of passengers traveling between medium- and high-risk areas.

Passengers are required to purchase tickets and register using their real names, wear a mask, get their body temperature measured and show their health code. Drivers and station staff members are also required to wear a mask and have their body temperature measured.

Safety management and emergency support were also highlighted at the meeting. The committee urged strengthening the investigation of potential safety hazards and dealing with problems promptly.

It also asked departments to establish and improve the emergency plan system and arrange leading cadres and staff members to be on duty 24 hours per day to ensure the proper handling of emergencies during the Spring Festival travel rush.

Also, services should be improved during the travel rush, such as expanding the scope of online ticket sales, promoting the application of e-tickets and opening more service windows.
