Guiyang joins Lancang-Mekong tourism alliance

According to the Lancang-Mekong tourist cities cooperation alliance activity held on Dec 29 in Nanjing, the capital of East China's Jiangsu province, Guizhou's provincial capital Guiyang is among the first batch of Chinese cities to join the alliance.

Wei Dingmei, the vice-mayor of Guiyang, said at the event that Guiyang would give full play to its advantages in location, transportation and services, enhance cooperation with alliance members, and contribute to the sustainable development of Lancang-Mekong cities.

The Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism was created in 2015 and involves China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. As a crucial cooperation area, tourism growth can boost the integrated development of the Lancang-Mekong region.

According to Guizhou's provincial culture and tourism department, authorities will support Guiyang to use the alliance as a platform to realized high-quality development.

The Chinese cities involved in the alliance include Nanjing, Chongqing, Nanning, Chengdu, Guiyang, Kunming, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Changsha, Haikou, Xiamen and Shenzhen.
