From January to August this year, Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has deducted and exempted 19.17 billion yuan ($2.82 billion) of tax, according to the city's taxation bureau.

Since the beginning of 2020, Guiyang has strived to simplify procedures, cut required materials, reduce processing times, implement preferential policies, standardize law enforcement, improve efficiency and innovate services to serve taxpayers better and improve the business environment.

Guiyang's taxation bureau has encouraged the public to join in the supervision of tax services and made digital business cards to allow taxpayers to consult tax-related policies anytime and anywhere.

Meanwhile, to protect the lawful rights and interests of taxpayers, withholding agents and other related parties, Guiyang's taxation bureau launched a policy offering flexible punishments for minor violations related to tax collection. This change is intended to benefit taxpayers and protect the development of market entities.
