In an effort to increase agricultural yields and boost farmers' incomes, Guiyang Agricultural Investment Development Co (GAID) launched a special vegetable brand on July 31. GAID is a State-owned company based in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The agriculture brand, known as "Shandi Guishuang", was developed by GAID and offers four product varieties: fresh vegetables, pre-packed vegetables, snacks and pickles.

The brand's vegetables are representative of the high-quality agricultural products that Guizhou is famous for, attracting customers in the Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and international markets.

So far, GAID has invested 3.2 billion yuan ($458.34 million) to create 25,000 mu (1,666.67 hectares) of high-standard vegetable farming areas in Guiyang, along with 500,000 mu in impoverished areas that are supported by the provincial capital.

While developing the region's vegetable farming industry, GAID worked with cooperatives to increase incomes for farmers. During the first half of this year, GAID helped over 75,000 people find employment in the agriculture sector, including 15,000 low-income individuals.

In recent years, Guiyang has improved vegetable quality and processing standards and ramped up construction of farming areas. Additionally, through its creation of agricultural product brands, Guiyang has contributed to the modernization of Guizhou's agricultural industry.
