Guiyang railway station to boost port economy

2020-04-24

To better serve the development of the New Land-Sea Corridor, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently started the construction of Guiyang Gaimao railway port.

Currently, the first stage of the construction has come to an end. When finished, the port will be able to provide import and export inspection and quarantine, as well as customs inspection for industrial products, agricultural products, industrial raw materials, and wood.

The port's container scanning system can inspect containers without opening them up, which will improve customs clearance and lower costs. All the import and export goods can be transported with railway lines through the port.

It is estimated that when put into operation, the first stage of the port will create jobs for around 60 people. As the annual volume of freight handled increases, the port will provide more job opportunities.

According to one of Guizhou's tea companies, which exports around 6,000 metric tons of tea every year, the port will save at least two days in exporting to India, save one third of the logistics costs, shorten payback periods, and improve the company's advantages in marketing its competitive advantages.

The port is expected to become an international logistics channel, as well as attract more people, goods, capital, and information to allow more companies share opportunities in the New Land-Sea Corridor construction.
