With an area of 28.3 square kilometers, Cupertino is a city located in the west of Santa Clara County, San Francisco Bay Area, California, U.S. It is next to San Jose, the seat of Santa Clara County. It had a population of 58,302 until 2010.

As one of the core cities of Silicon Valley, it is home to giants like Apple Inc., Symantec, MySQL AB and Zend Technologies. It was ranked 27th among the Most Livable Small Cities in the U.S. and second in California in 2012.

Cupertino is known as the "heart" of Silicon Valley. Apple is the most prominent high-tech company based in Cupertino where Apple built a massive complex as its headquarters. Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple, pledged that Apple would construct more office buildings in Cupertino before his decease. Some other major high-tech companies like Seagate and Trend Micro are headquartered or have branches in Cupertino. Apple has 34,300 (the most) employees at its headquarters in Cupertino, followed by Oracle with 8,000 employees.
